The Overall Bull Champion, Valleyview Gus, was exhibited by Noel Jagoe, Drinagh, Co. Cork. This Delfur Decider sired January `15 born bull was bred by Patrick Ryan, Boulteen, Enniskeane, Co. Cork and is out of a Seepa Tee Jay dam Valleyview Cara. He was purchased by Oliver Moran, Strokestown, Co. Roscommon to run with his commercial suckler herd at €2900.

The top price of the day at €5200 went for the Reserve Bull Champion, Clonagh Foot Loose, exhibited by Garrett Behan, Ballyfin, Portlaoise. Born in December `14 the ET bull is sired by Kilbride Farm Dragoon and is out of a Raceview King dam Corlesmore Willow. Joe Brady, Tullyco, Cootehill, Co. Cavan was the purchaser to join his Drumnagar Herd.

Next up at €4500 was Viscount Goliath, a Kilbride Farm Newry sired bull sold by Jack Saunders, Cullohill, Co. Laois. John McCormack, Clonlara, Co. Clare purchased this February `15 bull who is out of a Raceview King dam Seaview Bliss.

Hitting the €3800 mark was Marsha Gruffalo exhibited by Michael Glennon, Ballydangan, Athlone, Co. Roscommon. This February `15 born bull is sired by Curaheen Buffalo and is out of Celtic Bridget, a Hillcrest Champion dam. Seamus & Jennie Aherne, Cappamore, Co. Limerick purchased this bull for their Towerhill and Rubyjen Herds.

Selling at €3700 for Lyndsey Behan, Ballyfin, Portlaoise was Jennalyn Geromino sired by Kilbride Farm Dragoon. Another February `15 born bull and out of the Carnkern Titan dam Clonagh Wee-Duffy this bull was purchased by Bertie & Karl William, Kilmurray, Tullamore.

Also reaching the €3700 mark was Auroch Gold P an Auroch Deuter PP bull sold by David Wall, Newcastle, Co. Dublin. This March `15 born bull is out of a Darsham Playboy sired dam Aurock Wave and was purchased by Declan Loughran, Knockbridge, Dundalk to run with his Pedigree & Commercial herd.

Joe Kelly, Ballynacally, Ennis, Co. Clare sold his Anatrim Diamond sired bull, Mount George, at €3300 to Mark Molloy, Ballycumber, Co. Offaly at €3300. At 14 months this bull was out of a Glebefarm Tyson dam Mount Carol.

John Touhy, Whitegate, Co. Clare sold his two bulls at €3100 & €3050 respectively. Selling at €3100 was an Auroch Bullet sired bull Seafort Gunshot which was bred by James Costello, Dromard, Co. Sligo. This bull is out of a Curaheen Viking dam Seafort Brona and was purchased by Peter Anderson, Ballitore, Co. Kildare. At €3050 was his Monaduff Lord sired bull, Coose Gallileo, who is out of a Herkules dam Fearna Aspen. Ellis Farms, Drinagh, Co. Cork were the buyers of this lot to run with their dairy herd.

Selling at €3000 for Billy Connell, Glynwood, Baylin, Athlone was Glynwood Gavin. Peter Kelly, Woodlawn, Ballinasloe purchased the Curaheen Tyson sired bull who is out of a Magheracrigan Special dam Hillcrest Titsy.

Overall in the bulls there was an 81% clearance with prices ranging from €5200 back to €1800 and an average price of €2800.

A smaller than usual heifer selection met with good demand resulting in an 83% clearance and an average price of €2190.

Topping at €3000 was the Reserve Champion, Duff Felicity, exhibited by John & Barry Duffy, Ballybay, Co. Monaghan. This seventeen month old heifer was sired by Seaview Tommy and out of a Hillcrest King dam Duff Vera and was purchased by Maria Caffrey, Ballinagh, Co. Cavan.

The Overall Female Champion, Leeherd Girlie, was exhibited by John Finnegan, Coachford, Co. Cork. At just twelve months this Anatrim Dubai sired heifer who is out of a Freighduff Brendan dam Leeherd Cara sold for €2800.

Hitting the €2700 mark was Mohona Fleck sold by Gordon Salter, Dunmanway, Co. Cork. Sired by Kilbride Farm Bantry and out of a Samark Superman dam Corbally Dottie AOK this this 15 month old heifer was purchased by John Costello, Ennis, Co. Clare.

The Final Simmental Sale of the season will take place at Roscommon on Friday evening, May 13th, where there is expected to be approximately 25 Bulls and 80 Simmental X breeding heifers for sale.
